J-Bolt Gate Hinges: An Overview and How They Get Installed

The j-bolt style of gate hinge is one you will often see used on both aluminum gates and iron gates. The large 7in ones get used on the bigger arched driveway gates and the smaller 5.5in ones on pedestrian and shorter gates.

The j-bolt gate hinges are super-strong, adjustable and easy to install for the average person. However, they can also be a bit confusing when you see them for the first time.
