Absolutely! About 90% of our customers install the fence and gates themselves. While it may sound daunting, installing your fence is actually very easy and straightforward using the installation instructions we have provided. If you are at all handy, you can do this on your own. A couple good reasons for installing it on your own include:
Sometimes you just don’t have the free time or comfort level to install your fence or gate. That doesn’t mean you can’t use our products. When looking for an installer, we actually recommend avoiding fence installers. Why, you ask? Because many times they only want to do business if you are buying the fence from them as well, and what they are selling will not have the same level of quality as our Stronghold Iron and Infinity Aluminum products.

While iron and aluminum fence appear similar, they do have different installation procedures due to differences in how they are constructed:
Iron Fence
When installing an iron fence, you need to dig your post holes and set your posts in concrete allowing them to dry before you install the fence panels. Iron fence panels are installed by utilizing brackets that secure the panel to the post. This way, you can go back and hang the panels between your posts after the concrete dries. Iron needs to be installed this way due to the extra weight of the panels.
Aluminum Fence
When installing an aluminum fence, you are going to set your posts in concrete and install the fence panels all at the same time. Aluminum fence panel rails slide inside the posts for installation and do not use brackets like iron fences do. So you need to be able to move your posts in the wet concrete to install the panel and move down the fence line. Since aluminum panels are installed into the posts as they are set, you could finish an aluminum installation in one day.
We wrote our installation guides to follow the most common product applications, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be installed in different ways. Let your Iron Fence Shop salesperson know what kind of installation you are thinking of and they can help advise you on the best way to proceed. Not really. If you have a decent set of hand and power tools, you probably already own everything you need. The install guides list all the tools you will need. The most exotic tool you will need is either a manual post hole digger or renting a powered post hole digger.
We have had many folks tackle the Linear automatic opener kits and Linear accessories on their own. Linear openers run off of a standard 110v outdoor electrical outlet. The openers actually run off a battery in the control box (in case the power goes out) and the 110v line is simply to trickle charge the battery. If you do not have a 110v electrical outlet, you will need to have one installed or utilize an optional solar panel to trickle charge the battery.
